Moong dal halwa recipe
MOONG DAL HALWA is the most popular indian dessert which really belong to Rajasthan,but now liked by all the indians.It has even travelled to abroad also.Any party is incomplete without Moong dal halwa.It is mostly relished in winters.It is non-glutenous as it lacks flours.It is made with moong dal,ghee,cardamom powder,saffron and ofcourse sugar.It is really a lip smacking dish.
Moong dal – 1 cup
Pure ghee – 1 cup
Semolina – 1 spoon
Sugar – 1 cup
Water – 2 cups
Saffron – 10-12
Dry fruits – 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/2 spoon
Wash and soak moong dal for 4 hours.
Blend moong dal to a fine paste without adding water.
Cut dry fruits in slices.
Heat a kadai kadai or pan.
Add ghee and let it be hot.
Fry dry fruit slices till light brown. Pull out of oil.
Add semolina in the same ghee and saute for 30 seconds.
Switch off the gas stove and add moong dal paste.Stir for a minute.
Now swith on the gas stove and saute moong dal paste till brown.
Heat a separate pan and pour water and sugar.Also add saffron strands.
Stir till sugar dissolves.
Pour sugar syrup in the sauted moong dal paste.
Saute till semi solid.
Add cardamon powder and dry fruit slices.Mix well.
Serve in a bowl.
Garnish with dry fruit slices.
Moong dal halwa is ready to serve.
