Masala bhindi

Masala bhindi

Masala bhindi is a curried recipe of bhindi.It goes very well with roti,chapati,naan or parantha.Most of the people relish bhindi,but the people who don’t like dry preparations,can enjoy bhindi in curry.


Bhindi – 250 grams

Onions – 2

Small onions – 7

Capsicum – 1

Pureed tomatoes – 2

Garlic paste – 3/4 spoon

Ginger paste – 3/4 spoon

Curd – 3/4 cup

Fresh cream – 2 spoon

Sesame paste – 1 spoon

Oil for frying vegetables and making curry

Red chilly powder – 1 spoon

Turmeric powder – 3/4 spoon

Cumin powder – 1/2 spoon

Garam masala – 1/2 spoon

Corinder powder – 11/2 spoon

Green cardamom – 2

Cloves – 2

Cinnamon stick – 1

Kasuri methi – 1 spoon

Salt as per taste


Wash and wipe bhindi.

Slit and cut into bite size pieces.

Peel and slice onions.

Peel and slit small onions.

Heat a kadai.Pour oil to shallow fry bhindi,onions and small onions.

Blend sliced and fried onions to make paste.

Now add 2 spoons of oil.

Add green cardamom,cloves and cinnamon stick when oil is hot.

Add cumin powder and saute till done.

Add garlic and ginger paste.

When pastes are done,add red chilly powder,turmeric powder and coriander powder.

Add tomato puree when spices are done.

When moisture of tomato puree disappears,add  brown onion paste and saute for 30 seconds.

Add curd  and boil while continuously stirring.

Add sesame paste.Saute for a minute.

Add 1 cup of water and let it boil.

Now drop bhindi, small onions and capsicum.

After 2 minutes,add kasuri methi and cream.Mix.

Now add garam masala.

Garnish with milk cream.
