Chilly potato or Potato chilly recipe is demonstrated step by step with the help of pictures.This recipe is the Indian version of chinese cuisine.Indians taste buds relish the chines foods,so came into existence the adapted versions.Chilly potato is one of those food.Honey chilly potatoes or schezwan chilly potatoes are some variations.In any form potatoes are to be cut in fingers shape and fried.Then fried potatoes are to be mixed in soya sauce,vinegar and some othe sauce of your choice.
For potatoes fingers
Potatoes – 500 grams
All purpose flour – 2 spoons+4 spoons+1 spoon
Corn flour – 2 spoons
Riceflour – 2 spoons+4 spoons
Rock salt – 1/4 spoon
Oil for frying
Oil – 2 spoons
Garlic chopped – 1 spoon
Spring onion bulbs – 6
Green chilly – 4
Capsicum – 1
Red chilly powder – 1/2 spoon
Salt – 1/2 spoon
White vinegar – 1/2 spoon
Soya sauce – 11/2 spoon
Red chilly sauce – 11/2 spoon
Tomato ketchup – 1 spoon
Wash,peel and cut potatoes in finger shape.
Pour 2 spoons all purpose flour,2 spoons corn flour,2 spoons rice flour and 1/8 spoon salt in a mixing bowl.Mix well.Put potato fingers in the flour mixture and mix.
Make a paste of pouring consistency of 4 spoons all purpose flour,4 spoons of rice flour and 1/4 spoon rock salt.
Now pour potato fingers in the paste.
Heat oil in a kadai and fry potato fingers on medium hot oil.
Heat 2 spoons of oil and add 1 spoon of finely chopped garlic and saute till done.
Add chopped spring onion bulbs and saute till done.
Add slit green chilles and chopped capsicum and saute a little to keep it crunchy.
Add 1/2 spoon red chilly powder,1/2 spoon salt,white vinegar,red chilly sauce,tomato ketchup and soya sauce.Saute for a minute.
Add 1/2 cup water and let it boil.
Make a slurry of 1 spoon all purpose flour and pour in the kadai .Mix well.
Cook till sauce turns thick and pour fried potato fingers.Mix to coat sauce on potato fingers.
Add spring onion greens and mix.
Serve in a bowl and garnish with spring onion greens.
