Instant kheer
Instant kheer is a version of original kheer.Kheer is a popular dessert among Indians.It is infact a rice pudding but very slow cooked.Very few grains of rice in lots of milk and cooked for an hour.Cardamom powder,saffron milk and sugar is mixed.Hot or cold,It is absolutely tempting.But Instant kheer is made with milk powder,milk and rice.
Ingredients
Milk – 41/2 cup
Basmati rice – 1 cup
Milk powder – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 4 spoons
Cardamom powder – 1/2 spoon
Saffron strands – 25
Fried dry fruits – 1/2 cup
Method
Wash and soak rice for 1 hour.
Soak saffron strands in 2 spoons of milk.
Boil 2 cups of milk and add rice.
Wait for milk to start boiling again.
Put gas stove on low mode of heat and cover with lid.Cook for 10 minutes.
Mix milk powder in 1/2 cup of milk while continuosly stirring to avoid lumps.
Add in the rice and stir.
Add 2 more cups of milk and stir.
Add cardamom powder,sugar,saffron strands soaked in milk and fried dry fruits.Mix well.
Kheer is ready.
Garnish with pistachio strands.
Serve either hot or cold.
